ILION - Anne E. Johnson, 91, of Forge Hill Estates, Ilion, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009, in the ICU of St. Luke’s Hospital after suffering a stroke. Her family was at her side. Anne was born to John and Victoria Migonis in Poolville, NY, on August 27, 1918, and grew up in Hamilton, NY, on the family farm. She married William J. Johnson on September 9, 1939, and settled in Herkimer, where they enjoyed a full life until Bill’s death in 1985. Their passion was golf, which they played avidly on local courses as well as ones near Okeechobee, FL, where they spent winter months. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and Utica School of Commerce and worked as a bookkeeper at several local businesses. Anne enjoyed keeping busy and working in her gardens. She was an excellent Scrabble player and had a daily routine of a walk and yoga exercises. Anne loved family gatherings and relished in making birthday cakes for everyone. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Migonis, of Syracuse, and a brother, John Migonis, of Hamilton. She is also survived by two daughters and their spouses, Marsha and Donald Crist, formerly of Holland Patent, and Carol and Dain Faville, of Fairfield; a son, William Johnson and his wife, Nancy, of Ilion; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Ries, Randy Crist, Daryl Crist, Katie Crist, Meg Gardner, Sarah, Jill, Kimberly and Kelli Faville; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William; sister, Eva Migonis; and her parents. There will be no calling hours. Anne will be remembered at a private memorial service at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn. in Anne’s memory.
