Obituary of Amelia Miner

ILION - Amelia M. Miner, 100 years old, formerly of 256 E. Clark St., Ilion, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at The Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion, where she had lived for several years. She was born on November 30, 1909, in Richfield Springs, NY, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Czuba) Golowitz. Amelia attended Richfield Springs and Frankfort schools. On September 11, 1937, she was married to Frank W. Miner in Frankfort. He died on January 8, 1988. Amelia worked at Sperry Rand Univac, Ilion, and H.M. Quackenbush in Herkimer for many years. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation. Survivors include her niece, Jean Sherwig, of Tillson, NY; her nephew, John Dedzej and wife, Gloria, of Burnsville, MN, and their children, Jason and Katie; two nephews, Don Polsin, of Florida, and Bob Polsin, of Arkansas; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 17, 2010, at Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, with Father Anthony M. Barratt, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Richfield Springs, NY. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and aides on the second floor of the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center for their excellent care of Amelia over the years. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Annunciation, 109 West St., Ilion, NY 13357. The family has entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements to Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home of Ilion, Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
