Obituary of Henry Moreau

ILION – Henry “Hank” Moreau Sr., age 76, of 68 Prospect Ave., Ilion, passed away on Friday October 16, 2009 at home with his beloved wife and family by his side. Henry was born at home on E. River St., Ilion on April 17, 1933, the son of Azarius Moreau and Valerie (Palerin) Moreau from Three Rivers, Canada. He attended the Roman Catholic Church, Annunciation School and Ilion Junior High School. Henry proudly served his country in the Forgotten War Korea from 1950-1953 in the U.S. Army. On May 28, 1955 he married Beverly A. Moss, and together they had six children. Henry worked as a construction worker and drove truck for Enjem’s for many years. He also worked at Mohawk Containers as a security guard and retired at L.B. Security. Henry was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, American Legion Post 920, VFW Post #502, Dads of Foreign-Service-Veterans, and was a life member of AMVETS Post #777. Henry loved to go camping, fishing, and traveling to Connecticut and Maine to see family. His favorite past-time was playing cards and spending time with his family. Henry will be greatly missed. The suffering has stopped and he is in a better place. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery and Louise Moreau of Ilion, Michael and Regina Moreau of Ilion, Daniel and Donna Moreau of Woolwich, Maine; daughter Mary Jo and fiance Brian Devine of Schuyler; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, one great-grand-daughter; two brothers, Alfred of Ilion, John of Bristol, Conn; one sister-in-law, Cecilia “Cissy” Moreau of Ilion; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Emil and wife, Amy, Edward and wife, Betty, Russell, Charles and Arthur and his sister and brother-in-law, Rose and John Leunenburger of California. He was also predeceased by two sons, Henry and Dennis. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday October 19, 2009 at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Alfred Lamanna assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in St. Agnus Cemetery, N. Ilion. Calling hours are Sunday October 18, 2009 from 2 PM-5 PM at The Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion. A very special thanks to the Hospice and his nurse, Judy, and a very special thanks to his nieces, Missy and Dale; his cousin, Debbie; his daughter-in-law, Donna and a special friend Amy. In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or the Ilion Ambulance Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
