ILION - John B. Morris, age 91, of 57 West St., Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. He was born on August 16, 1918, in Ilion, the son of Thomas R. and Margaret (Curley) Morris, and graduated from Ilion High School. John was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. On August 8, 1940, he was married to Elizabeth “ Betty” Garvey at St. Francis De Sales Church, Herkimer. Betty and John have been married over 69 years. John was employed at Central New York Coach Lines in Utica for over 40 years, retiring as the Corporate Secretary in 1990. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation. Survivors include his wife, Betty; his children, Patricia “Pam” O’Toole of Spring, TX, John Michael Morris and his wife, Jeanne, of Sharpsburg, GA, Christopher Morris of Ilion, Andrew Morris and his wife, Diane, of Kentucky, and Patrick Morris of Ilion; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Alfred Morris and his wife, Sue, of Ilion, James Morris, and Donald Morris and his wife, Maureen, all of Florida, Richard Morris of Utica, and Robert Morris and his wife, Ann, of Florida; his sister, Margaret “Peg” Marley of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his son, Paul, in 1987; his brother, Thomas Morris and wife, Mary; and his brother, Edward Morris. In keeping with John’s wishes, there are no public calling hours or services scheduled.
