UTICA - Joseph J. Scire, 75, of Utica, NY, and Margate, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in Florida. He was born in Utica, the son of Thomas and Rose (Farina) Scire. Joe was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. At one time, he was married to Dorothy Ayers. He later married Olga Ecker. For over 20 years, Joe worked for City of Utica Codes Enforcement and DPW. After retirement, he moved to Florida. During the summer months, he would come back home to Utica to live and work at Valley View Golf Course, which he really enjoyed doing for the past 8-9 years. His favorite pastime was golfing. Survivors include his wife, Olga; his daughter, Nancy Watkins and her husband, Lee, of Ilion; his son, Tom Scire and his wife, Brandy, of Florida; his step-children, Tina and Michael Ecker, of Florida; four grandchildren, Eric Watkins, of Ilion, William and Lilyana Scire, of Florida, and Kayla Tomas, of Florida; two sisters, Rosemary Vomero and husband, Frank, and Virginia Viscosi and husband, Carmen, all of Utica; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his extended Valley View family and many friends, including special friends, Tom and Patty Colucci and children; and Nancy's mother, Dorothy Murphy, whom Joe remained friends with. In keeping with Joe's wishes, a Memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.
