ILION - Betty J. Albin, age 86, of 623 Silver St., Ilion, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Folts Home, Herkimer. She was born on May 14, 1922, in Utica, NY, the daughter of Ray and Gladys (Davies) Beal. On Aug. 20, 1951, she was married to William J. Albin in NYC. He died on May 29, 2007. Betty was an LPN and worked at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, Eden Park Nursing Home, Utica; Folts Home, and later, Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She enjoyed playing cards with friends making ceramics, and was an avid animal lover, especially horses. Betty and her late husband were foster parents and helped teen-agers for many years. Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael B. and Denise Albin of Town of Litchfield, William J. and Pat Albin of Pompey, NY, and Robert J. and Blanche “Bunny” Albin of Carrollton, Ga.; one daughter, Leisa A. Albin of the Town of Litchfield; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Albin of Ilion and Nora Smith of Alabama. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kim Albin. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Church of the Annunciation, West St., Ilion, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Spring interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Winfield, N.Y. Visitation will be Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the services at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
