Obituary of Julia Annutto

HERKIMER-Mrs. Julia Annutto, formerly of Route 5, Herkimer, and most recently residing with her daughter on Westwood Drive, the beloved matriarch of the Annutto family, entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, June 8, 2009. Her passing which was unexpected occurred in St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. Mrs. Annutto was born in St. Johnsville on August 10, 1919, daughter of the late John and Rose (Ziemba) Droski and educated in St. Johnsville schools. In April of 1935, she was joined in marriage with Anthony Annutto with whom she shared a union of 54 years until his passing on February 13, 1990 instilling in their children the value of hard work and dedication. This was the same tradition that Julia and her husband carried on in the running of the Annutto Truck Farm and Green Houses for 50 years serving the needs of many throughout the Mohawk Valley and Oneonta areas which over the years became truly a successful “family business”. Mrs. Annutto will be sadly missed by her loving family for the love that she offered and will be remembered mostly for her legacy and loyalty in the operation of the family business. Her greatest pleasures in life were surrounded around her family and also tending to flowers at the greenhouse and at home. Survivors include her beloved family; four children: John Annutto and wife Joan of Ilion, Anthony “Junior” Annutto of Herkimer, Carole Stearns of Herkimer, and James “Jimmy” Annutto and wife Sandy of Little Falls; in laws: Harry Ganann of Florida, Joseph DeGristina of Herkimer, Netti Annutto of Syracuse, a half brother: Mike Mustapak of Rochester; her cherished grandchildren: Debbie Dautheimer and husband Phil of Oneonta, Michelle Rowan and husband George of Ilion, Kristin Thompson of Herkimer, Scott Stearns of Herkimer, Phillip, Marissa, Sara, and Kyle Annutto of Little Falls, Toni Ann DiGristina of Herkimer, Joseph Annutto and wife Peggy of New Hampshire, Lisa James and husband Chris of Albany; her adored great grandchildren: Hanna, Brennen, Cameron, Kyle, Alex and Joshua; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Annutto was preceded in death by her daughter: Marie DiGristina, two sisters: Ida Ganann and Anna Kramer, by a brother: Joseph Droski, by a half brother: Alex Mustapak, and by her son in law: Robert Stearns. The Annutto family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. The funeral will commence at 9:15 am on Thursday, June 11, from the funeral home where a prayer service will take place and a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, officiating assisted by Deacon Rendell Torres. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Sts.
