Obituary of Mary Babuska

ST. JOHNSVILLE- Mary Babuska, 88, of St. Johnsville entered into eternal rest peacefully on May 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side. She was born on October 1, 1920, in St. Johnsville in her family home, the daughter of Peter and Anastasia (Warcaba) Osipovich. She attended St. Johnsville Central School and graduated in 1939. She was a lifelong resident of St. Johnsville having been born in the house where she resided her entire life. Mary was a proud veteran of WW11 serving with the U.S. Army. She was employed as a knitter for Helmont Mills in St. Johnsville. She was united in marriage with Edward Stephan Babuska on January 19, 1946,at the Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville and shared 58 years together until his passing in 2004. During those years Mary devoted herself to caring for her mother and family while working full time. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed collecting recipes and sharing the finished delights with family and friends. Mary was also an avid reader and loved to follow current events. Survivors include her loving family; her 2 daughters: Sharon Fuller of St. Johnsville and Deanna Campione and her husband Fred of St. Johnsville; her 2 sons: Peter Babuska and his wife Donna of California and Edward Babuska and his wife Yvette of Oregon; her 5 grandchildren: Gregory Campione, Matthew Campione, Michael Babuska, Kyle Babuska and Stacy Babuska; her 2 great grandchildren Dustin Smith and Ava Campione, her sister Anne Cecconi of Little Falls and many nieces and nephews. Mary also leaves behind a special friend Jeannette Bundyk. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward; her brother Walter Sawchuk; and her sisters Gladys Marvin and Helen Tenerowicz. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St. Saint Johnsville from 2-5 pm on Sunday May 31, 2009. Mrs. Babuska's funeral will commence at 11am on Monday June 1, 2009 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Rev. Harry Teuchert of Grace Christian Church. The procession will follow to Holy Trinity Cemetery in Little Falls where she will be laid to rest along side her beloved husband. In liue of flowers the family requests donations to SAVAC or the Margaret Reaney Library. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.
