Obituary of Arthur Bennett

St. Johnsville: Arthur L. Bennett, 51, of Hough Street, St. Johnsville, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Arthur was born on April 21, 1957 in Herkimer, a son of the late George D. and Arthella (Thompson) Bennett. Arthur was educated in Herkimer schools. He was a United States Army Veteran and served honorably for six years. Mr. Bennett was employed at Raymonda Drywall; prior to that he worked at Chuck Humphreyville Paving in Ilion. Arthur is survived by his companion of twenty years, Julie Mento; his step-father, Merrill Holtz of Herkimer; three daughters: Theresa Conroy and Ed Taylor of Herkimer, Rebecca Mento and Jeff Stoltz of St. Johnsville, and Renee Bennett and Gregory Morse, also of St. Johnsville; one stepson: Shane Bennett and Danielle Bunce of St. Johnsville; his grandchildren: Jasmine, Dale III, Zachary, Paige, Cory, Carly, Michael, Raelyn, and his precious princess Chelsie. He is also survived by five brothers: William Bennett of Mohawk, Floyd Bennett of Herkimer, George Bennett & his wife Theresa of St. Johnsville, Larry Bennett and his wife Amber of Gloversville, and Dale Bennett and his wife Patricia of Ilion; and five sisters: Darlene Bennett of Gloversville, Susan Bennett and John Grainer of Herkimer, Georgia Rando and Skip of Mohawk, Maryann Bennett and her fiancé John Hoffman of Herkimer, and Kathy Bennett of Frankfort. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special niece, Amanda Bennett of Ilion, and a special nephew, Dale Bennett, Jr. and his wife Karen of Little Falls. Arthur was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Gary, Hankie, Eddy, Bernard and Eric. Arthur enjoyed fishing and loved the outdoors; but he especially loved to baby-sit his beloved grandchildren, as they were the apples of his eye. Relatives and friends may call from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (866-1011). His funeral service will commence at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 pm at the funeral parlor conducted by the Reverend Janet Gleason.
