Obituary of Carmella Ciociola

ILION-Mrs. Carmella (Salvaggio) Ciociola, of Buchanan Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 23, 2009 in St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. She was born in Rochester on April 1, 1927, daughter of the late Santo and Madeline (Cacciatore) Salvaggio and graduated with the Ilion High School, “Class of 1944”. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Ralph Ciociola on June 12, 1948, a union of 57 years until Mr. Ciociola’s passing on September 4, 2005. For many years, Mrs. Ciociola took care of her home and family. She was a communicant of Annunciation Church, Ilion. Survivors include her children: Michael Ciociola and fiance Karen of Pavilion, NY, Ralph Ciociola of Utica and Madeline Webber and husband Jerry of Rome; a sister: Martha Rossi and husband Frank of Utica; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In keeping with Mrs. Ciociola’s wishes, there are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 11 am on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from the Church of the Annunciation, West Street, Ilion with the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt, officiating assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. The family is being served by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000.
