Obituary of Margaret Cook

MOHAWK-Mrs. Margaret H. Cook, 90, of Warren Road, Mohawk, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday afternoon, February 2, 2009 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica with the love and support of her family by her side. She was born in Ilion, on June 26, 1918, daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Hopkins and educated in Ilion schools. On June 22, 1940, she was joined in marriage with Douglas F. Cook in Mohawk. Mr. Cook passed away on October 5, 1972. Margaret was last employed with Mohawk High School in the cafeteria, retiring in 1979 after many years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and swimming in her pool. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her son and daughter in law: Thomas and Nancy Cook of Mohawk; two grandchildren: Joshua Cook of Mohawk and Colleen Thomas and husband Nathien of Frankfort; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Cook on August 29, 2007. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 5-8p.m at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk. Her funeral will commence at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 1 p.m. from Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Spring interment will be held in Mohawk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial offerings to the American Heart Association, envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. The Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary will conduct their service at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Margaret's family would like to thank the nurses and staff especially mentioning those the on the 4th floor and CT and ICU Units, all of whom took wonderful care of Margaret.
