Obituary of Carol Ferguson

Mrs. Carol Lee Ferguson 66 of 5765 State Hwy 29 RD St. Johnsville, widow of Orville “Whitey” Ferguson, died Friday June 26, 2009 in Bassett Hospital Cooperstown. Carol was born in Gloversville on February 2, 1943 the daughter of Alton and Viola (Armstrong) May and was a graduate of the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School, class of 1960. Her marriage to Orville “Whitey” Ferguson took place on October 27, 1962 in St. Johnsville, New York. Whitey predeceased her on October 21, 2008. In 1987 Carol and her husband opened “Whitey’s Variety Store” in Lassellsville where it continues to serve residents from far and wide, searching for that special item. She was a member of the Oppenheim Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the RGL Fire Department, and the TLC group which met on Thursday’s at her home to study the Bible. She also enjoyed ceramics and the Love of her family. Carol was a former member of the Lassellsville United Methodist Church where she served as Treasure and also on the board of Directors. She is survived by her sons Jeffrey A. Ferguson of RD St. Johnsville, Scott and his wife Haley Ferguson of Oppenheim, a Daughter Judith “Judy” Ferguson of RD St. Johnsville, her Grandchildren Brock and Mackenzie, a Brother in Law Ernest Voorhees of Oppenheim, Nieces and Nephews, a Special friend Martin Tallon of Johnstown, and her “Furry Friend “ Zoe. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 2, 2009 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville, with the Rev. Rebecca Laird Pastor of the Oppenheim United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Calling hours are on WEDNESDAY July 1, 2009 from 4-7PM.
