Obituary of Charlotte Ferguson

Charlotte A. Ferguson passed away peacefully at her home on January 28, 2009 with her family at her side. She was born May 11, 1943 in Little Falls to Mitchell and Elizabeth (Mullaney) Cioch. Charlotte attended the Fort Plain and Frankfort schools. She worked as a rural mail carrier in Frankfort for 25 years and was secretary of the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association. Charlotte was also a loving home maker and worked on the family farm with her husband James. She loved gardening and playing with her grandchildren. Charlotte married her husband, of 47 years, James Ferguson at the Ilion Methodist Church on July 8, 1961. Besides her husband, James, she is survived by three sons, James Ferguson V and his wife Kimberly of Frankfort, Edward Ferguson and his wife Marie of Gates, NC and Michael Ferguson and his fiance Jennifer of Frankfort: Three Daughters, Shirley Bass and her husband Duane of North Augusta, SC, Sharon Hansen and her husband Travis of Mesa AZ, and Melinda Lambkin of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Joanne Hoskey and her husband Donald of Ilion, Diane Williams and her husband Barry of East Herkimer and Linda Reinhardt and her husband Gary of Frankfort.She is also survived by her grandchildren Duane Bass, Jessica Bass, James Ferguson VI, Kyle Ferguson, Keith Ferguson, Madison Lambkin, Lynsie Ferguson, Michael Ferguson II, Leigh Ferguson, Cole Hansen, and Casey Hansen as well as many nieces and nephews. Charlotte and her family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mook and Dr. Campbell and the staff at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown and thanking her many friends at the post office and on her route. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000. From 3PM – 6 PM. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 6PM with the Rev. Robert Lindsay, of the West Schuyler Methodist Church, officiating. She will be laid to rest later in the spring in Frankfort Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Charlotte's name to Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center Fund c/o Friends of Bassett, 1 Atwell Rd., Cooperstown, NY 13326.
