Obituary of Vivian Greshel

EAST HERKIMER-Mrs. Vivian E. (Cristman) Greshel, 83, of State Route 5, East Herkimer, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, January 6, 2009 in Little Falls Hospital with the love and support of her daughter, Dale Cruskie at her bedside. She was born in East Herkimer on January 28, 1925, daughter of the late LeRoy and Jane (Bleaking) Cristman and attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic school and graduated from Herkimer High School. On October 9, 1971, she was united in marriage with John E. Greshel in Herkimer, a devoted union of 30 years until his passing on January 11, 2002. She was last employed as an inspector with MDS, Herkimer and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Greshel also belonged to the town of Herkimer Senior Citizens and the Herkimer VFW Auxiliary. Vivian will sadly be missed and forever remembered by her loving family; her children: Dawn Martin and husband Paul of Delmar, Dale Cruskie and husband Paul of East Herkimer, and Bryan Mosher and wife Judy of Prattville, Alabama; her cherished grandchildren: Brandon Mosher and wife Angela, Brian Mosher and wife Jessica, Jennifer Hilgendorf and husband Aaron, Nicolle Van Deloo and Vivian's grandson Sgt. Shawn Martin's wife, Mimi Martin whose husband was tragically taken during the Iraq Conflict; two adored great grandchildren: Kira Van Deloo and Kylie Mosher. She was predeceased by a daughter: Bonnie Lee Mosher and by her grandson: Sgt. Shawn Martin. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 3-7. The Town of Herkimer Senior Citizens will conduct their service at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and the VFW Auxiliary will conduct their service at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Greshel's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Satruday, Jan. 10 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. She will be laid to rest in the spring with her husband John, in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Vivian's father who was a founder of the fire department.
