Obituary of John Jackamorch

HERKIMER-Mr. John S. Jackamorch, 89, formerly of Gray Street, most recently of Galinsky Apts., passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 11, 2009 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on December 11, 1919 in Herkimer, son of the late Stanislaus and Mary (KeKutis) Jackamorch, educated in Herkimer schools. He married Catherine M. Palczynksi in St. Joseph’s Church, Herkimer on October 25, 1952. She passed away on October 1, 1998. A Veteran of World War II he enlisted on June 20, 1942 and was honorably discharged on October 19, 1945, holding the Rank of Sergeant with the U.S. Army. He was last employed as a supervisor with Mele Manufacturing, Utica and was formerly employed with HP Snyder Manufacturing, Little Falls. Jack was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Jack was a member of the Herkimer VFW Michael S. Pliseck Post #4915 and also the FHARC Ham Radio Club. Survivors include his brother in law: Francis “Hank” Palczynski and wife Maxine of Herkimer and a sister in law: Ann Palczynski of Schenectady; nieces: Joan Guild and husband Don of Chittenango, Judy DeWitt and husband Paul of Palmer Lake, CO, Carol Venezio and husband James of Schenectady, and Julie Poetto and husband Paul of Scotia; a nephew: Francis Palczynski and wife Letha of Coral Springs, FL and a step brother: Bill and Betty Paslak of Herkimer; step nephews and nieces: James Paslak and wife Megan of California, William Paslak and wife Cindy of Texas, Donna Collins and husband Paul of West Winfield, Diane Garley of Herkimer and several great nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his step father: Charles Paslak and by a step sister: Bernice Paoni. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff of Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown for their kindness and compassion offered. Memorial offerings in John’s name may be made to the St. Francis de Sales Church. There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a graveside service to be held later in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer with Father Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army. Services of caring are being provided by the Enea Family Funeral Home of Herkimer.
