Obituary of Thomas Johnson

HERKIMER-Mr. Thomas E. Johnson, of North Main Street, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009 in the VA Hospital, Syracuse. Born on November 10, 1942 in Jersey City, NJ he was the son of the late Ewald and Edla (Benson) Johnson and graduated from Mohawk High School and attended University of Nebraska at Omaha. He resided in California for 14 years before coming to Herkimer in 1995. A veteran of the U.S. Army he enlisted on July 30, 1964 and was honorably discharged on July 19, 1967 and served in Germany. Tom was a self-employed painter. Along with his quirky smile and disposition, Tom enjoyed talking about cars even up until the time of his illness. The family would like to offer their thanks to Scottie who was a loyal friend to Tom and thanks to his fellow friends where he resided for your companionship. Survivors include three nieces: Deborah A. Johnson of Albany, Kirsten M. Johnson Entwistle of Ilion and Lisa E. Johnson of Little Falls; two nephews: Wayne E. Johnson, Jr., of Westminster, MD and Chad A. Johnson also of Westminster, MD; two sisters in law: Barb Johnson of Little Falls and Florence Johnson of South Carolina; many grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers: Roy A. Johnson and Wayne E. Johnson. Family and friends will have a private gathering. Cremation services are being provided by the Enea Family Funeral Home of Herkimer, (866-1011), Harry Enea, Jr., director.
