ILION-ROME - Barbara J. Jones, age 70, of Floyd Ave., Rome, formerly of Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness, with her family by her side. She was born on Dec. 15, 1938, in Ilion, the daughter of Warren and Ormetta (Hawley) Jones and graduated from Ilion High School. Barbara was employed as a civilian employee at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, in the positions of Supervisor - Base Records manager, Privacy Act Information officer and Freedom of Information manager for 35 years. She was a resident of Rome for 35 years coming from Ilion. Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gen Geloso and her husband, Joe, of Ilion and Patty Stafford and her son, Matt, of the Town of Ohio, Cold Brook, N.Y.; one niece, Cynthia Fauler and her husband, Matt, and their children, Luke, Andrea and Jake of Gansevoort, N.Y.; two nephews, Russell Dack and his wife, Kristen and their son, Owen, of Mendon, N.Y., and William Dack and his wife, Joyce, and their children, Andrew, Alex and Erica of Ilion; one aunt, Jane Coffin of Ilion; several cousins and special friends, Terry Oliver and Jo Ellen Hadlock of Rome, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009, at Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Calling hours are Friday, April 10, 2009, from noon until 1 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
