Obituary of Alice Lacy

ILION-HERKIMER - Alice M. Lacy, 90, formerly of Ilion, Herkimer and Cocoa Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford, N.Y. She was born on June 23, 1918, in Herkimer, the daughter of Robert P. and Alice (Nagle) Lacy. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales School, Herkimer High School and attended Utica College. Alice was employed at Remington Rand Co. for 15 years. She later was a logistics officer (civilian employee) in the U.S. Air Force at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, N.Y., Tinker AFB, Oklahoma and McClellan AFB, Sacramento, Calif., for 25 years, retiring in 1976. Alice was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, Church of Our Savior and St. Vincent de Paul Association of Cocoa Beach, Fla. Survivors include her nieces, Jane Kline and her husband Michael of Gloversville; Margaret Sadallah and her husband Charles of New Hartford; her nephew, Richard Piper and his wife Kathy of Monica, Pa.; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Piper and Patricia Lynch and her brother, Robert Lacy. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation with Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. There are no scheduled calling hours. The family wishes to thank the staffs at Mohawk Homestead and the Sitrin Health Care Center for their excellent care given to Alice. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Annunciation or the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes are available at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. The Lacy family has entrusted all arrangements to funeral director Don Applegate at Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home.
