Obituary of William J McCarthy

Little Falls: William J. McCarthy, 54, of Savannah, Georgia, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, June 29, 2009. He was born in Little Falls, NY to his parents, Joseph E. and Phyllis (Plunkett) McCarthy. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1972. He then went on to graduate from Herkimer County Community College and Utica College of Syracuse University. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Maine at Orno. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Mary, of Chatham, Massachusetts, and a brother, Joseph, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; three sons: Bart, Ryan, and Adrian; three grandchildren: Carmen, Dylan, and Declan; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and two very special friends: Eric and Joy Petoff of Hinesville, Georgia. Bill was employed by Computer Science Corporation as a Systems Administrator, located at Fort Stewart, Georgia. In 2007, he received an Award of Distinction for his extraordinary devotion to the servicemen and women of the United States Army by providing training devices that helped them to accomplish their missions. Relatives and friends may call at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls on Sunday, July 5, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Bill’s funeral will begin with prayer at the funeral home on Monday, July 6, at 10:15 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Reverend Anthony Ligato at 11:00 am in Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. Committal will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Holy Family Parish or the American Cancer Society.
