Obituary of Frank D Novak
MOHAWK/LITTLE FALLS-Staff Sgt. Frank D. Novak, 78, of Sandy Lane, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 9, 2009 peacefully in Little Falls Hospital. At the time of his passing which occurred following a brief illness, he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 4, 1931 in Little Falls, son of the late Frank and Frances (Skubitz) Novak and graduated from Little Falls High School. On October 3, 1953, he was united in marriage with Lorraine M. Douglas in the First Baptist Church, Little Falls sharing a union of 40 years until Mrs. Novaks passing on June 25, 1994. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Frank enlisted in October of 1950 receiving basic training in Lackland, Texas and was honorably discharged in October of 1954 having served with the 1257th Air Transport Squadron. He was an engine mechanic and hydraulic specialist becoming an inspector for engines and oversaw mechanical operations of aircraft. Throughout his four year affiliation with the US Air Force and ever since, Frank was rightfully proud of his faithful and conscientious service to his country and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Service Medal. From 1976-1992, Mr. Novak served as the town of Little Falls Superintendant, 16 years of dedicated and loyal workmanship and was previously employed with Slabes Auto, Little Falls. He was of the Catholic faith. Frank was an exemplary role model and fulfilled his various roles within the family circle: he was a best friend to Phyllis: he was a responsible father who offered his children loving guidance and constant support; and he was a devoted and caring grandfather and great grandfather always willing to offer his advice, wisdom and assistance to those who sought his help. Frank loved the outdoors, especially deriving great pleasure from hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include his beloved companion: Phyllis Fox; his son: Richard Rick Novak and companion Luann of Little Falls; a daughter: Wendy Thompson and Jack of Mohawk, two sisters: Frances Slabe of Little Falls and Betty Uebele and husband Walter of Georgia; three cherished grandchildren: Sandi Thompson, Andrew Thompson, and Staci Lynn Novak; a great grandson: Riley Novak; two aunts: Audrey Skubitz and Irene Skubitz; many special nieces, nephews and close friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy Bolton and Agnes Novak. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Thursday, February, 12, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. and invited to his funeral service, commencing at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home with Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, officiating. Frank will be laid to rest in the spring in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills where full military honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force.
