Obituary of Theresa Nurod
FRANKFORT-Mrs. Theresa S. (Gatto) Nurod, 89, formerly of Fourth Ave., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 16, 2009 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. Theresa was born in Ilion on July 4, 1919, daughter of the late Pasquale and Elvira (Ruffo) Gatto and educated in Frankfort schools. She has been a lifelong resident of Frankfort. Theresa was joined in marriage with George Nurod on June 2, 1945 in St. Marys Church, Frankfort; a loving and devoted union of 44 years until Mr. Nurods passing on November 20, 1989. Mrs. Nurods was first employed as a waitress at Gus Panarites Restaurant, Ilion and was formerly employed with Remington Rand and the Frankfort 5 & 10. She was last employed with Salada Foods, Little Falls. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Survivors include her loving family; three sons: Sydney Nurod and wife Christine of Frankfort, Pasqual Nurod of Sante Fe, New Mexico and Nicholas Nurod and wife Victoria of Syracuse; six cherished grandchildren: Vanessa Crosby and husband Col. Charles Crosby of Annapolis, MD, Trista Fitch and husband Nathan of Durham, NC, Sergei Nurod of Santa Fe, NM, Nicolette, Matthew and Gabrielle Nurod all of Syracuse; four adored great grandchildren: Connor, Taylor and Tanner Crosby and Nathan Fitch; many nieces, nephews and cousins and in laws: Catherine Norod of Frankfort, Carm Minosh and husband Dominick of Frankfort, Margaret Norod of PA and Betty Norod of Ohio. She was predeceased by three brothers: Albert, Patsy and Joseph Gatto and by one sister: Frances Chick Mannino. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Frankfort and Ilion, 894-8000 on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral will commence at 9:45 am on Friday, March 20th from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:30 am from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus assisted by Deacon James Bower. She will be laid to rest in the spring in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. As the family matriarch, Theresa was greatly loved, honored and respected by her loved ones who will always cherish her in fond and lasting memories. Furthermore, they will always value the traditions which were so meaningful to her and which she handed down to them, such as those which characterized there family celebrations and gatherings. In her spare time, Theresa enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. She served as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.
