Obituary of Joan Skinner

ILION - Joan M. Skinner, age 69, of 108 W. Main St., Ilion, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford. She was born on November 19, 1939, in Oneonta, N.Y., the daughter of Nelson and Marie Jane (Georgia) Roe and attended Oneonta Schools. At one time, she was married to Ernest Dunham. She later married Donald Skinner, Sr. Joan attended St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Ilion, and was a certified nurse's assistant (CNA). She was also a farmer with her grandparents and a homemaker. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Smith of Frankfort, Lisa McCarty of Marcy, Wendy Gillette and her husband, Larry, of Oregon, Melissa Stahl of Newport, Darlene Skinner of Ilion, Tanya Youngs and her husband, Danny, of Poland, and Theresa Perez; her son, David Dunham; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Louise Fiege and Constance Storms; her brother, Tibor Gyula Ban II; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan was predeceased by her grandparents, Lavania and Almon Georgia. Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Father George Greene officiating. Interment will be in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin, NY. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 23, 2009, from 1PM-3PM at the funeral home. Joan's family has entrusted all arrangements to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
