Obituary of Lindsay Stagg

MOHAWK-Lindsay A. Stagg, 50, of Marion Street, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009 in her home. She was born on April 19, 1959 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Harry J. and Margaret “Peggy” (Morris) Stagg and graduated from Ilion High School. She furthered her education attending nursing school at Mohawk Valley Community College. Lindsay earned a bachelor’s degree and was last employed at Heritage Healthcare, Utica as a registered nurse. She was also previously employed by various other nursing homes throughout the valley and taught in service nursing with BOCES. Lindsay was very involved with Herkimer County Public Health Nursing and also Hospice Care, Inc. Lindsay was a dedicated care giver and accomplished nurse with a successful career. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her feline companions, Chloe and Phoebe. She will be sadly missed by her family; two aunts: Rita Morrison of Sun City, Fl and H. Elizabeth Stagg of Syracuse; an uncle William S. Tiel of Ilion; cousins: Marianne Lee and husband Francis of Sauquoit, John Michael Purcell of Ilion, Timothy Purcell and wife Lynne of California, William Stagg of Herkimer, Jayne Stagg of Ilion, Lori Geise and husband Thomas of Ilion, James Morrison of Ouluth, Ga., Steven Morrison, Kathleen Morrison, Ellen and Stephen Leger all of Florida, and Mark Morris and wife Melissa of Ilion. Besides her parents, Lindsay was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles: Clinton Stagg, Anne Purcell Tiel, William Stagg, George “Bud” Morris and James H. G. Morrison. There are no public calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Lindsay’s Mass of Christian Burial, commencing at 11:45 am on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from the Church of the Annunciation, West Street, Ilion with the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor officiating, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will follow to Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Services are under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Ilion and Frankfort. The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude those who responded to Lindsay’s Home on Sunday evening and going above the call of duty, those being the Mohawk Police Department, Mohawk Fire Department and the Herkimer County Coroner. Also, a special thank you to Sandy Eysaman and family and Theresa Stevens for being loyal and dedicated friends to Lindsay.
