Obituary of Carolyn Sweeney

ILION- Carolyn Ada (Talbot) Sweeney, 68 of Bridge St passed away peacefully on Saturday April 25, 2009. Carolyn was born August 11, 1940 in Mohawk, the daughter of Laurens Talbot and Mildred (Davis) Talbot. Carolyn spent her younger years and received her education in a number of New York towns and vilages. On November 24, 1956 she was united in marriage with Loren Sweeney. After a year living in Texas, the couple built their life together in Ilion. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and cleaning, and gathering with family for picnics and "fests". She had a love for animals, particulary dogs and wild birds, which she always kept well fed in her yard with a number of birdfeeders. She will always be remembered for her unique sense of humor and attention to detail. Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband Loren Sweeney, daughter Cynthia and her husband Daniel Arsenault of Ilion, son James Sweeney of Oneida, and daughter Jennifer Sweeney of Little Falls and friend Dave Eggert of Rochester, granddaughters Amy Arsenault and fiance Luke Condon of Frankfort, and Jessica and husband John Arsenault-Rivenburg of Frankfort; one brother Frederick and wife Sue Talbot of Poland, four sisters -in-law: Alice Talbot of Laurens, Bernice Wright of Ilion, Kathleen and husband Gerald Gage of Ilion and Marie Hameister of Richfield Springs; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carolyn is also survived by her beloved canine companion Molly. She was predeceased by her brothers Laurens John Talbot and Richard Talbot and a sister Beatrice Goldstein. Per Carolyn's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service wil be held in Inghams Mills Cemetery for the immediate family at a later date.
