Obituary of William Tallman

ILION-MOHAWK - William "Bill" J. Tallman, age 73, of 604 Forge Hill Estates, Ilion, formerly of Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 20, 1935, in Herkimer, the son of Robert F. and Arthella (Bradle) Tallman. Bill graduated from St. Francis deSales School and Mohawk High School in 1952. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy. On June 23, 1972, he was married to Donna Kubica at the Church of the Annunication, Ilion. Bill was employed as a Gunsmith at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for 33 years, retiring in 1997. Survivors include his wife, Donna; his mother, Arthella Hopper of Herkimer; his children, Cindy Foltz and her husband, Sumner of Kentucky, William S. Tallman and Cori Hickman of Colorado, Cathy Wilson and her husband, Randall of Washington State, Carly Bradley and her husband, Rob of Rochester, NY; Terri Cimon and her husband, Marc of Texas; six grandchildren, Jason Hazzard, Garrett Griffith, Rachel Tallman, Holly Tallman, Norah Bradley and Quinn Bradley; his brother-in-law, Michael Kubica and his wife, Cathy of Ilion; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, his brother, Robert Tallman, and his step-father, Wilbur Fred Hopper. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor, assisted by Deacon James Bower. In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmont Cancer Center, GDR, Box 270032, Rochester, NY 14627. Envelopes will also be available at the church immediately after the service. The Tallman family has entrusted all arrangements to Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion, Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
