Obituary of Jean Wildey

ILION-Mrs. Jean C. (Armstrong) Wildey, 63, of Otsego St., Ilion passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, July 20, 2009 in her home. She was born in Ilion on September 2, 1945, the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Becker) Armstrong and educated in West Winfield schools. On February 15, 1964, she was united in marriage with Gerald E. Wildey in the United Methodist Church, Ilion; a union of 33 years until the passing of Mr. Wildey on October 9, 1997. Jean was last employed with the Masonic Home in the housekeeping department. She was of the Methodist Faith. Jean considered as the foremost priority in her life her combined roles of wife, mother and grandmother. She was a giving and dedicated mother and grandmother. A woman of strong will and character, she was a constant support for her grandchildren, always there for them when they needed her. In her leisure time she enjoyed fishing and trips to the Turning Stone Casino. She leaves her loving family; her companion with whom she resided with in Ilion: Frank Johnston; two daughters: Colleen Napoli and fiancé Randy Welch of Frankfort and Christy Grescheck and husband Jamie of Leonardsville; nine sisters and brothers: Vivian King and husband Wayne of Winfield, Margaret Wildey of Ilion, David Armstrong and wife Diane of Unadilla, Diane Gilbert and husband Tom of Winfield, Darlene Williams and husband Alan of Edmenston, Vonnie Baker and husband Ken of Fort Plain, Cathy Pritchard and husband Kelly of Edmenston, Sherry Strickland and husband Darrell of Wintergarden, Fl., and Debra Fontaine and husband Bill of Leonardsville; her cherished grandchildren: Fredrick Wildey whom resided with his grandmother, Trista Crim and husband Joe, Kyle Evans, Ryleigh Welch, Shelby Dillenbeck, Abigail Grescheck, Morgan Gresheck, Michael Wildey and Tamara Wildey; two adored great grandchildren: Joshua Gantz, Jr., and Aaron Crim; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sons: Steven Wildey and Fredrick Wildey; by three grandchildren: Mark, Craig and Jocelyn and by one brother and one sister: George Armstrong, Jr., and Mary Crossman. Jean’s funeral service will commence on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 12 noon from the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home (new location), 4309 ACME ROAD, BETWEEN ILION & FRANKFORT, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of Morning Star Ministries, Ilion/Frankfort, officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home from 11-am-12 noon prior to the funeral service on Friday. Procession will follow to Frankfort Center Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
