Obituary of James Williams

MOHAWK-Mr. James Albert "Jim" Williams, 41, of State Route 168, (town of German Flatts) entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Monday morning, June 22, 2009 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on April 9, 1968 in Cooperstown, son of Charles and Eleanor Williams who reside in Mohawk. He was educated in Mohawk Central Schools and studied diesel mechanics at Mahanna Career Institute on Broad St., Utica. As a youth, Jim assisted on the family farm in West Winfield. He was a member of the FUNTRAK model railroad club. Jim was currently employed as a diesel/general mechanic for Oak Hill Sales, Frankfort and was also employed with Mohawk Valley FreightLiner of Yorkville for 20 years. Jim was an exceptional mechanic and there was not one day that went by when he did not have a grease rag in one hand and a wrench in the other. He had a special love for the outdoors including fishing, hunting, gardening, and enjoyed bowling. His love for these hobbies kept a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. Survivors include his beloved family; his parents, Charles and Eleanor Williams of Mohawk; his four siblings: Roger Williams of Mohawk, Charles E. Williams of Mohawk, Edward and Barbara Williams of Ilion, sister Penny Milone and husband Andrew of Utica. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Amanda, Brandy, Nicole, Tiffany, Cindy, Isabella and Travis Williams, Joshua and Marlinda Milone; and one grandnephew, Dylan Williams, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. To his closest and dearest friends, he will be infinitely missed. Above all, his never ending love for his cherished cats will forever be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd, between Ilion & Frankfort, 894-8000 on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. Mr. Williams’ funeral will commence at 2 pm on Saturday, June 27th from the chapel of the funeral parlor with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of Morning Star United Methodist Church, Ilion/Frankfort, officiating. Procession will follow to Mohawk Cemetery, II, (Vickerman Hill) where he will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Herkimer County Humane Society, envelopes may be obtained at the funeral parlor. The family extends appreciation to the doctors and nurses on the third and fifth floors of Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown for their professional concern and outstanding care and compassion.
