Obituary of Carol Wilson

MOHAWK-ILION - Carol V. Wilson, age 74, of 11 W. Center St., Mohawk, formerly of Ilion, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare, New Hartford. She was born on July 29, 1934, in Utica, the daughter of Francis and Lucile (Trask) Vaughn. Carol graduated from Utica Free academy and attended Business College in South Carolina. On Oct. 22, 1955, she was married to Norman :Norm” Wilson at Central Church, Utica. At one time, Carol was co-owner and operator of the Remington Inn, Ilion. She was later employed in the cafeteria at Remington Arms Co., Ilion. She enjoyed her bowling league at State Bowling Center, Ilion. Carol was known to be a mother to all who she came in contact with. She was compassionate and kind-hearted and was an understanding listener. Carol was a beloved mother, grandmother and her family was her entire life. Survivors include her daughters, Susan “Sue” Rankins and her husband, Douglas with whom she resided in Mohawk, Alta Farrington and her husband, Kenneth “Ken” of Ilion, Chrissy “Christopher” Wilson and her fiancee, Charles Childs Jr. of Ilion, Mary Wilson of Ilion; her sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Wilson of Ilion, Dean Wilson and his wife, Stacy of Ilion; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Cerini, Alyssa Scherer and her husband, James, Kenneth Farrington II and his wife, Angeline, Kelly Rando and her husband, Joseph, Jaclyn Moore and her husband, Nicholas, Sierra, Samantha and Joseph Wilson, Jasmine, John and Eric Wilson; 11 great-grandchildren, Blake Sherer, Marissa and Makenzie Farrington, Alexis, Tyler and Miley Rando, Danielle, Savannah Moore and Nicholas Moore II, Payton Wilson and Azure Bowers; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Richard Rankins and Adrian “Roy” Downs. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Major James Smith of the Oneonta Salvation Army. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 21, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. prior to the funeral home service. The family wishes to thank Virginia Gigliotti and Cindy Stark, the entire 6th floor staff at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare and Andre in ICU and Dr. Kachare for treating their mother as if she was one of their own. Family also wants to thank Dr. Butala and his Herkimer staff for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Salvation Army. Envelopes are available at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion.
