Obituary of Sheila Aiello

HERKIMER-Mrs. Sheila A. (Blais) Aiello, 72, a Herkimer native, most recently of Cohoes, NY passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008 in Albany Medical Center. She was born in Herkimer on November 8, 1935, daughter of the late Leo and Arlene (Truax) Blais and graduated with honors from Herkimer High School and was also a member of the National Honor Society. On April 11, 1959, Sheila was united in marriage with Anthony J. Aiello in St. Anthony Church, Herkimer with the Rev. Gustave Purificato, officiating. Mr. Aiello passed away on July 20, 2000 after sharing a 41-year relationship filled with love, adventure and wonderful experiences. Sheila always supported her husband Tony in various business endeavors. She was at one time married to Eugene Helmer who predeceased her in 1957. Sheila was a dedicated housewife who loved her home and expended every effort to make and maintain a stable, secure, and comfortable environment for her family. In fact, Sheila was never happier than when her family gathered around whether to celebrate a holiday or special occasion, or just to enjoy a family get-together. She is now happy to be home. Sheila was also a very dedicated counselor for recovering alcoholics, and made a significant impact on countless lives, people who are now living successful lives all across the country, and who continued to stay in touch with her. She is fondly remembered by many. Survivors include her loving family: her son: Gary Aiello and wife Romy of Hewitt, TX; two daughters: Denise S. Bukovan of Clifton Park and Valerie Aiello and Michael Turner of Taylorsville, KY; her cherished grandchildren who were the light of her life: Anthony J. "AJ" Aiello and Amanda, Marcus Aiello and Briana, Crystalee Aiello, and Dominique Bukovan; in laws: Lavergne Helmer, Irene Euron and Walter Richards, Alton and Medeline Helmer, Stewart and Debbie Helmer, Bert and Mary Ellen Helmer, Frank Helmer, Leon and Linda Helmer, Angelina and Antonio Giuliano, Frances "Chick" Aiello, Frank and Margaret Aiello, James and Jetta Aiello and Bella Aiello. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister: Carol Luppino. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home of Herkimer, on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Aiello's funeral will commence at 9:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 11 from the chapel of the funeral home where a prayer service will take place followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor officiating. Funeral procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest.
