ILION-Mrs. Margaret R. "Peggy" Barile, age 85, formerly of Barringer Rd., passed away on Saturday evening August 9, 2008 peacefully in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion where she had resided since 2002. She was born on December 12, 1921 in Albany, daughter of the late Frank L. and Violet (Cotton) O'Toole and attended Albany schools. She was formerly married to Serafino M. Barile of Schenectady. He passed away in 1995. Peggy owned and operated Peggy's Beauty Salon in Ilion retiring after 30 years of business. She was a member of the Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer and its Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Crafty Ladys. Mrs. Barile resided in Ilion since 1972. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Christine and Gary Griffing of Bristol, Va.; a son: Michael Barile of Ilion; a granddaughter: Hannah Elizabeth Griffing; five sisters: Eleanor Bialobzeski of Schenectady; Agnes Barile of Rexford, Joan Tanski and husband John of Albany, Shirley O'Toole of Burnt Hills and Frances Giardino of Albany; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother: Kenneth O'Toole and by two sisters: Lorriane O'Toole and Mary C. O'Toole. There are no public calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 10 am on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in the Church of the Annunciation with the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt, officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Crown Hill Memorial Park, town of Kirkland. Memorial donations may be made to Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion who took wonderful care of Peggy and her family during her stay. Caring services are being provided by Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home of Ilion, 895-7722.
