Obituary of Jean Barone

HERKIMER-Jean (Donato) Barone, 95, of S. Caroline St., entered into the arms of the Lord on Monday morning, October 20, 2008 peacefully in the comfort of her home. She was born on May 13, 1913 in Pianopli, Italy daughter of the late Alfonso and Julia (Michele) Donato and educated in Herkimer schools. She was joined in Holy Matrimony with Anthony "Tony" Barone on August 1, 1931. Mr. Barone passed away in 1997 after a blessed and loving union of 66 years. Jean was last employed as a seamstress with P & K Dress Factory and was also employed by several other garment factories. She was a faithful communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Barone considered the first and foremost priority in her life that of taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren and in recent years her great grandchildren which brought her much joy and laughter. She derived great satisfaction from being in the company of her loved ones. She will be forever remembered by all who knew her. Survivors include her son: Nicholas G. Barone and friend Charlotte of San Diego, CA; a daughter: Mary Judith (Barone) Ferri and husband Rodney of Herkimer; two grandchildren: Lonna (Ferri) Hart and husband Michael of Herkimer and Todd L. Ferri and wife Arlene (Trevisani) Ferri of Herkimer; three great grandchildren: Colin Michael Hart, Nicholas Anthony Ferri and Alana Marie Ferri all of Herkimer; many nieces including two special nieces: Donna Talarico and Jeannie LuBrant, many nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by an infant son: Nicholas Barone and five siblings: Ralph, Gilbert, Bernard and Thomas Donato and Eleanor Guido. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home (Herkimer) on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will commence on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at 9:15 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Tony. Kindly consider memorial offerings in Jean's name to Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral parlor. The Barone family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to Carmen Stefaniak, RN, Betsy Casler, and Linda Lawrence, of Herkimer County Public Health all of whom made Jean and her family feel extremely comfortable during her illness and also Dick and Maria Geraty and their employees who were always there to lend a helping hand. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Scott Brehaut, MD, and Beth Williamson, both of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for their kindness and compassion.
