Marion I. (Veillette) (Carpenter) Blais, 98, of Herkimer and formerly of Ilion passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 8, 2008, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, NY with her loving family by her side. Marion was born July 23, 1909 in Meridan, Conn., the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabella (LaRoza) Veillette. She was first married to Henry W. Carpenter on October 5, 1929. Mr. Carpenter passed away in 1976. She later married Ernest Blais in 1980 who preceded her in death. For many years, Marion was a nurse?s aid for the former Ilion Hospital. She also actively supported the American Red Cross and worked the local blood banks. Marion truly loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family. She spent many happy years in Florida during the winter months and stayed active in various activities. She especially enjoyed her many road trips taken with her ?girls?. Her loving spirit will always be a constant presence in the many lives she touched. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Bouck of Palmetto, Florida, a daughter-in-law, Catherine Carpenter of Herkimer, granddaughters, Jacqueline Murphy of Mohawk, Judy Nudo and husband William of Herkimer, Jan Nudo and husband Robert of Gansevoort, NY, Theresa Casey of Mohawk, Rene`Musso and husband Mark and Jodi Carpenter of Weedsport, NY, grandsons, Michael Carpenter of Cape Vincent, and William Carpenter and wife Cheryl of Weedsport, NY, 43 great, great great and great great great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her two husbands, two sons, Henry W. Carpenter, Jr., and William G. Carpenter, a grandson, Donald J. Casey, a son-in-law, Myron Bouck and all her siblings. A memorial prayer service will be held on Friday January 11, 2008 at 7:00 pm from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY with Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director of Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, officiating. Spring interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday January 11, 2008 from 4:00 pm until the time of the services.
