Obituary of Frances Boulden

Mrs. Frances E. Boulden 81 of 52 Spencer Street Dolgeville, died Tuesday evening July 8, 2008 at home with the love and comfort of her family , after a nearly year-long battle with lung cancer. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on December 11, 1926, one of seven children of William and Frances (Webster) Evans. When she was a teenager her family moved to western New York where she graduated from Kenmore Senior High School. Her marriage to Jack O. Boulden took place on October 18, 1947 in Kenmore, New York. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this October. While living in the Kenmore area she worked as a secretary for an advertising agency in Buffalo until she began to raise her family. Mr. Boulden?s job took the family to suburban Pittsburg in the early 1960?s and then back to New York State a few years later. The family settled in Dolgeville in 1966. For eighteen years Fran worked in the Dolgeville Central School system, as a library aide and then took the position as office secretary. Prior to retirement she served as the confidential secretary to the superintendent. Throughout her life she was active in church and community organizations. She was a Service Team Chairman and Girl Scout Leader as well as a Brownies Assistant Leader. Despite moving from one area to another she always found a way to become involved in her local Presbyterian church, whether it was singing in the choir or as a Sunday school Teacher. Fran?s church activities took on more responsibility in Dolgeville; where she served as an Elder and as Clerk of Sessions in the former First Presbyterian Church and as an Elder in the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Church of Dolgeville. An active volunteer and member of her community, Fran was very proud of her volunteer efforts, including almost a dozen years as a volunteer with Hospice of Herkimer County and eight years as a Board member for the Hospice Foundation. She also gave her time to the American Cancer Society, the Friends of the Dolgeville ?Manheim Library, the Creekside Garden Club and the Oppenheim Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed working on quilts with her fellow members and friends. She is survived by her husband Jack, her son and his wife David and Russeen Boulden of Gray, New York, her daughters and their husbands, Diane and Charles Combs of Dolgeville, Cynthia and Mark Rybaltowski of Ballston Lake, and Jacqueline Boulden and her partner Helen Huffington of Philadelphia, PA., her grandchildren Ryan, Amanda, Stacy, Benjamin, William and Colleen, a great grandson Kamren, Her Brothers William Evans of Amherst and Robert Evans of Syracuse, Several Nieces and Nephews. Calling hours will be on Thursday July 10th from 5-8 PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Funeral services will be held Friday July 11th, 2008 at 11 AM at the United Lutheran-Presbyterian Church on Faville Avenue in Dolgeville. Rev. James Paulson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dolgeville Cemetery.
