ST. JOHNSVILLE-Mrs. Janet F. Brown, 76, of Washington St., passed away on Wednesday evening, August 13, 2008 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born on February 16, 1932 in St. Johnsville, daughter of the late George and Irene (Carter) Flanders and graduated with an associate’s degree in applied science from Fulton Montgomery Community College. In 1982, she was joined in marriage with Elmer C. Brown who predeceased her. Her last professional employment was with the Village of St. Johnsville where she was village clerk/treasurer and was at one time employed with Herkimer County as a computer programmer. Janet was very active with the Grace Christian Church of St. Johnsville and served as secretary and treasurer. She also enjoyed baking for all the church pie sales and was a member of the 2F Club. A loving and caring mother and grandmother, Janet will be remembered for her generosity and her willingness to help anybody at any time. She went above and beyond to help others and was a friend to many in St. Johnsville and throughout the Mohawk Valley. She will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Survivors include her loving family; a son: Gary White of St. Johnsville; two daughters: Julie Becker of St. Johnsville and Dawn White-Swartz of Sebring, Fl.; a step-daughter: Betsy Brown of St. Johnsville; two brothers: Paul Flanders of St. Johnsville and Walter Flanders of Gainesville, Fl.; her cherished grandchildren: Jesse White, David Swartz and Claire Dittmer, Alison Swartz, Susan Becker-O’Connor, Edward White, Ryan White and Jessica Bingham; five adored great grandchildren: Isabella, Lilly, Brooke, Yarrah and Amelia; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her son Raymond Alan White in December of 1997. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, from 6-8 p.m at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville. Janet’s funeral will commence at 11 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from the Grace Christian Church, 20 Center St., St. Johnsville with the Rev. David Johnson, pastor officiating. Procession will follow to St. Johnsville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of floral offerings, kindly consider memorial offerings to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the Brain Tumor Foundation; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor.
