Obituary of Eva Chambers

ILION-FRANKFORT - Eva M. Chambers, age 83, formerly of Ilion, Frankfort and Herkimer, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Masonic Care Community, Utica, where she had recently resided. She was born on November 29, 1925, in Whitestown, NY, the daughter of Raymond and Luella (Dingman) Hall, and graduated from Dolgeville Schools and Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing, Gloversville. She was married to Harold Chambers, who died several years ago. Eva was a registered nurse at various hospitals throughout the valley and most recently retired from Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls. She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk, in the Vestry and Altar Guild. Eva enjoyed her hobby of arts & crafts and music, singing with the Valley Voices for Christ. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Joyce Chambers, of Utica, and Edward and Sally Chambers, of Lafayette, IN; her daughters, Sharon Kerns, of Canon, CO, and Caryl Chacey, of Derby, KS; six grandchildren, Wesley Preble and Lawrence Chambers, Victor Chambers, Dr. Michael Chacey, Karen Chacey and Kalynda Chambers; several great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Janet Hall, of Lawton, OK; sister-in-law, Isabelle Hall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers, Lewis, Earl, Frank, Albert and Raymond Hall. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2008, at Grace Episcopal Church, 9 E. Main St., Mohawk, with Father William Wheeler, Vicar, officiating. Calling hours are Sunday, December 14, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Masonic Care Community, Utica, especially on Saranac Household and Albany Palliative Household, including Robin, Dana and Lisa. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk. Envelopes are available at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion.
