Obituary of Gail Ellen Crimmins

Evans Mills-Gail Ellen Crimmins, 52, of N. Main St., Evans Mills, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2008. Gail was born on October 3, 1955 in Little Falls, daughter of the late Lester and Julia (Chicawich) Crimmins Sr. and graduated from Little Falls High School, SUNY Geneseo and with a Masters Degree in Special Education from College of Saint Rose. Gail was a special education teacher with Carthage Central School District at Black River Elementary in Black River, NY, serving in the position for 29 years. Previously, she taught at Carthage Middle School for 5 years. For ten years, she was a student teacher supervisor/adjunct professor at Potsdam University. Gail also taught GED classes throughout the years for Carthage Central School District and at the Watertown Correctional Facility. Throughout her thirty years of teaching, Gail touched the lives of so many, both teachers and students. Her dedication to education was well-respected. Gail was well-known for her sense of humor and, of course, her infectious laughter. Gail loved her close friends and considered them as family. Her loving, caring nature will live on in the hearts of her many friends and family. She was a faithful member & trustee of Evans Mills United Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include her beloved family who will miss her dearly; her sister Karen Collea of Canandaigua; a brother Lester Crimmins and wife Deborah of Rexford; a niece: Kristin Collea; nephews: Benjamin Collea, Ryan Crimmins; a grand nephew: Benjamin Collea; and numerous cousins and close friends. Gail was a member of TOPS #153 of Carthage, NYSUT, and Big Sister- Big Brothers of America. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, January 14, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Bruce Funeral Home, 131 Maple St., Black River, NY. Funeral service will commence at 10:00A.M., Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Carthage Central High School Auditorium, 36500 NYS Rt26, Carthage, NY 13519, with reception to follow at the school. The Rev. Penni Farrington, pastor of Evans Mills United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Funeral preparations are being provided by the Enea Family Funeral Home, serving the Mohawk Valley. Memorial donations may be made to the CTA Scholarship Fund; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home for this purpose.
