Obituary of Gladys Dykeman

Mrs. Gladys A. Dykeman 92 a resident of the Van Allen Nursing Home, and formerly of Van Buren Street and Parkside Courts in Dolgeville, died Thursday evening January 24, 2008 in Little Falls Hospital. Gladys was born in Stratford, NY on February 17, 1915 the daughter of Wilfred and Lillian (Durrin) Miller and was educated in rural schools. She was married to Merrill Dykeman on March 14,1932. He predeceased her early in the 1950's. For a period of time Gladys was a companion to Wendell ?Shorty? Cool. She was also a companion to Henry ?Hank? Sheppard Sr. until his death. Gladys was a homemaker, enjoying gardening, canning and baking for her family. She loved to watch her ?Birds and Squirrels? at her feeder every day and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her sons Michael Dykeman of Jamestown, NY and Peter and his wife Linda Dykeman of Nevada, a Daughter in Law Linda Dykeman of Little Falls, a Sister in Law Helen Metz of Florida and her Grandchildren Tammy Dykeman, Doug Dykeman, James Dykeman, Cindy Dykeman, Judy Spencer, Kenneth Rasbach, Clarence Rasbach, Catherine Rasbach, Donna Gilbert, Polly Longway, Nancy Rasbach, Susan Eddy, Brenda Kubecka, Elizabeth Randall, David Dykeman, Christine Newbrough, Arthur Dykeman, Crystal Davis, and Teresa Dykeman, Several great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons Howard Dykeman, Raymond Dykeman and David ?Sonny? Dykeman and a Daughter Mabel Rasbach, Her Brothers Theodore and Joseph Miller and her Sisters Elizabeth ?Bessie? Mae Urich, Violet Battisti and Thelma Stagnaro. Graveside services will be held in the Spring at a time to be announced, in the Brown Cemetery, Town of Oppenheim. There are No Calling hours.
