Obituary of Dominick Giaquinto

ST. JOHNSVILLE-Mr. Dominick A. Giaquinto, 88, of Spring St., entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday afternoon, August 14, 2008 in Little Falls Hospital. He was born on March 4, 1920 in Fonda, son of the late Francesco and Giovannina (Campagnano) Giaquinto. On September 25, 1943 he was joined in marriage with Lucy Fortucci in St. Joseph’s Church, Little Falls. The couple would have celebrated a loving union of 65 years this year. At the age of 22, Dominick enlisted with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1942, serving during World War II. For over 20 years he was employed as an electrician with Casatelli Electric of Utica. He was of the Catholic Faith and a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in St. Johnsville. Dominick held memberships with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers,and the Auxillary Police of St. Johnsville. Dominick’s first and foremost priority in life was his family. Deeply and dependably committed to his loved ones, he was a wonderful role model. A man of man admirable qualities he was love and respected by all who knew him. He was proud of the customs of his Italian heritage passing them down to his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife: Lucy; two sons: Frank Giaquinto and wife Carol of Little Falls, Dominick Giaquinto of Clifton Park; a daughter: Marie Vara and husband Hector of Yucaipa, California; four cherished grandchildren: Anthony Giaquinto and wife Jennifer, Mark Giaquinto, Angela Vara and Matthew Vara; three adored great grandchildren: Ashley, Taylor and Christopher; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a brother in law: Alfred Fortucci of Little Falls. He was predeceased by a sister: Mary Vesp and by two brothers: Angelo and Carmen Giaquinto. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home (St. Johnsville) from 5-8 p.m on Sunday, August 17, 2008. Mr. Giaquinto’s funeral will commence at 10 am on Monday, Aug. 18 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:30 from St. Patrick’s Church, St. Johnsville where the Rev. Anthony Ligato will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial. Procession will follow to St. Johnsville Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest and military honors will be offered by the US Army.
