HERKIMER-Mrs. Eleanor Mae Grubner, 80, of Willis Ave., Herkimer passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, February 6, 2008 in St. Joseph?s Hospital, Syracuse. At the time of her passing she had the love and support of her family at her side. She was born on October 18, 1927, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Frank and Hattie (Chrisman) Richard and graduated from Herkimer High School. Eleanor was last employed with Herkimer Hospital where she was employed as a nurse passionately serving the needs of patients for several years, retiring in 1984. Over the course of her highly respected and successful career, Mrs. Grubner always served her employer and patients with a loyal dedication that reflected the compassion, goodness, and love in her own benevolent heart. Mrs. Grubner was a former member of the Eastern Star and attended the Herkimer Reformed Church. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, camping and traveling. Just as in her professional life, Eleanor dedicated herself wholeheartedly and lovingly to the various roles that made up her personal life: she was deeply committed to family, an exceptional wife, a wonderful mother, a devoted grandmother and great grandmother, and a great friend to many. An admirable woman, she was blessed with a warm and friendly attitude, a good and open heart and a genuine and gracious manner. She loved the company of family and friends and will be sadly missed.
