Obituary of Edward Healey

MOHAWK-Mr. Edward Healey, Sr., 73, of Devendorf St., Mohawk, went to be with our Lord early New Years Day, January 1, 2008, peacefully in his home. He was born March 5, 1934 in Little Falls , son of the late Maude (Christie) and Bernard Healey. He was educated in Little Falls and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 serving aboard the USS Midway during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He retired from Utica Cerebral Palsy in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen (Hoke) Healey of Mohawk whom he married on August 4, 1956 . Ed is also survived by two daughters and three sons, Mary Mead and husband Sam, Dorina Byard and husband Scott, Richard and Emma Healey, all of Mohawk; two sons: Edward Healey and his wife Anne of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Mark Healey and wife Becky of Earlville, Maryland. Also surviving are eight grandchildren who were the joy of his life and their spouses: Kenneth Mead and wife Shannon; Keith Mead and wife Amber; Gregory Healey; Kari Jo, Kevin and Kelly Healey ; Ryan Healey and Creedon Byard and Scott Byard. The bonus in Ed's life were his two great-grandchildren, Aden and Autumn Mead. He is also survived by two brothers: Albert Healey and wife Doris of Salisbury and Jeremiah Healey of Mississippi as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers: Daniel, Robert, James, Eugene and Richard Healey and one sister, Helen Borst. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Ilion and Frankfort, (894-8000) with the funeral service to follow immediately in the funeral home. Interment will take place privately. The Rev. Brian Engle, pastor of the Mohawk Reformed Church will officiate. It was Ed's wish to omit floral offerings during his services.
