Obituary of Sophie Hoffman

Sophie Hoffman, 87 a long time St. Johnsville resident passed away on Sunday January 13, 2008 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born June 7, 1920 in Natrona, PA. the daughter of the late Frank & Hedwig (Petrusiak) Zelinski and was educated in Inghams Mills schools. Mrs. Hoffman furthered her education by graduating in 1968 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was first married to the late Emanuel F. Wohlgemuth. She was later married to the late Thomas G. Hoffman. Until her retirement in 1975, Sophie was a LPN at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Long Beach, Long Island. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Little Falls, NY. Mrs. Hoffman served with the American Red Cross as an Ambulance Driver and Ambulance Attendant during World War II. Survivors include a son, Gregory G. Wohlgemuth of Oklahoma, a daughter, Terri J. Wohlgemuth of Gloversville, two step sons, Thomas G. Hoffman, Jr., and Robert Hoffman both of North Carolina, a sister, Anna Zelinski of Little Falls, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sons, Franz F. & Erick E. Wohlgemuth and two brothers Felix and Edward Zelinski. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 16, 2008 at 3:00 pm from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY. Spring burial will be in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday January 16, 2008 from 2:00 pm until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Association or a charity of one?s choice. Envelopes will be availabe at the funeral home.
