Obituary of Georgianna Holden

ILION-FRANKFORT - Georgianna M. (Marine) Holden, 78, of Acme Road, entered into eternal rest peacefully early Saturday morning, December 6, 2008 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica with the love and strength of family by her side. She was born on April 8, 1930 in Ilion, daughter of the late George and Helen (Pooler) Marine and graduated from Ilion High School and was last employed with ConMed Corporation, Utica. Georgianna attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Her home was very important to her and always took wonderful care of it. Georgianna considered motherhood her greatest honor and joy in life; she carried on her dedication into succeeding generations through her relationships with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her beloved family: two sons: Terry Holden and wife Sue of Utica and Jeffrey Holden of Ilion; a daughter: Debbie Holden and companion John Pickett of Ilion; two brothers: John "Jack" Marine and wife Shirley of Ilion and Joseph Marine and wife Eileen of New Hampshire; a sister in law: Jane Marine of Frankfort; a brother in law: Jack Shriber and wife Phyllis of Montana; three cherished grandchildren: Hillary Holden, Terry Michael Holden and Jeff Pickett; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Marine and by a sister MaryAnn Shriber. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home of Frankfort, (4309 Acme Rd.,) 894-8000 on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. Mrs. Holden's funeral will commence at 9:45 am on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered thence to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will follow to Litchfield Cemetery where committal will take place. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, Dr. Leo Sullivan and associates and the medical staff also of St. E's for all their kindness and compassion. In lieu of floral tributes, kindly consider donations to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral parlor where donations can be made as well.
