HERKIMER-Allan J. Knapp, 50, of S. Bellinger St., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 2008 in Little Falls Hospital of an apparent heart attack. He was born on November 1, 1957 in Herkimer, son of the late Deforest and Luella (Barrett) Knapp and educated in West Winfield schools. He has resided in Herkimer most of his life. For many years he was employed at the TP Restaurant, Herkimer and had been recently working for Herkimer County Community College in the kitchen where he formed many close friendships. Allan was a loving brother and friend to many who will be sadly missed. Survivors include a sister: Linda Wells of Mohawk; two brothers: Larry Knapp and wife Michele of Ilion and Jamie Knapp of Herkimer; an uncle: Maurice Barrett of Cassville; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is also survived by his beloved canine companion, Sophie. The funeral will commence at 7 p.m. on Thursday (tonight), April 24, 2008 from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7, prior to the service. Interment in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville will take place privately.
