Obituary of Anna Labaro

MOHAWK-Mrs. Anna B. ?Auntie Ann? (Alongi) Labaro, 76 of Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, June 20, 2008 in St. Mary?s Hospital, Passaic, New Jersey while visiting her son Donald. She was born in Passaic, NJ on December 12, 1931, daughter of the late Salvatore and Sofie (Puzio) Alongi and educated in Clifton, NJ schools. She was united in marriage to Giovanni ?John? Labaro in 1977; he passed away in February of 1987 after a loving and devoted union. For many years Mrs. Labaro along with her husband owned and operated New York Pizzeria in Mohawk and were well known and well respected by the residents in Mohawk. For over 20 years, she was employed with Shulton American Cyamade Corp., in Clifton, New Jersey. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Anna was very active with AARP and served as treasurer. Even though Anna in no longer with us, memories of time spent with her will live on forever in the hearts of her beloved family and friends. She knew that the most important thing in her life was to create a legacy of love for her family, and she took that responsibility very seriously. She was always thankful for the blessings that had been bestowed upon her. Anna was an energetic, fun-loving person who will be sadly missed by all who had known her. Survivors include two sons: Donald Kirsteuer of Clifton, NJ and Iginio Labaro and wife Mariella of San Guiseppe Jato, Sicily (Italy); a daughter: Pina Canepa and husband Nicola also of San Guiseppe Jato, Sicily; a brother: Ray Alongi and wife Carol of Clifton, NJ; a sister: Dorothy Catania of Clifton, NJ; in laws: Gerry and Catherine DiPaola of Frankfort, Carl and Maria Rovetto of Little Falls, Peter and Diane Labaro of Utica, Quinto Rovetto of Central Square; her grandchildren: Antonella, Giovanni, Valeria, Guiseppe, Christopher and Giovanni; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Enea Family Funeral Home of Frankfort, (4309 Acme Rd., 894-8000), from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Labaro?s funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Thursday, June 26th from the chapel of the funeral home where a prayer service will take place and at 11 am from Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Funeral procession will follow to Mohawk Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
