Obituary of Francesca T Lamanna

Mrs. Francesca "Frances" T. Lamanna, formerly of Lamanna Road, town of Manheim and Mohawk St., Herkimer, most recently of Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, went home to be with the Lord on her 93rd birthday, Monday morning, July 7th, 2008 peacefully at the nursing home. She was born in Little Italy, New York City, NY, daughter of the late John and Serafina (Carpinelli) Nunno. The Nunno family came to Little Falls when Frances was a young girl and she attended schools in Middleville. On September 15, 1934, she was joined in marriage with Leonard "Lonnie" Lamanna in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls with Father Joseph Connelly, officiating. Mr. Lamanna passed away on September 30, 1995 after celebrating 61 years of marriage. Throughout their life together, Frances and Lonnie established and maintained a union filled with their mutual love and devotion. Their relationship was a good example and an inspiration for their children. Frances assisted her husband for many years in the operation of the Lamanna Family Farm in Manheim which was a well-known and well-respected business that was held in high esteem. Besides her family, faith came first in Frances' life and she was a lifelong, devoted member of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and its Rosary Society. She was also a member of the former Grange Hall, DeCarlo Staffo Post Auxillary and the Rock City Senior Citizens. Among the many concerns and aspects in her life, Frances' greatest blessing was her family: she held a sacred love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and considered them all to be her greatest joy. She was always deeply proud and supportive of their various achievements and efforts. Always the optimist and ever humble of heart, she was accepting, understanding, and respectful. Her reputation was a reflection of her inherent honesty, integrity, and loyalty. Frances was gifted with gentle qualities of compassion and understanding, as represented by the spontaneity of her laughter and the warmth of her smile. She will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her. Survivors include four beloved children: Lawrence J. Lamanna of Herkimer, John R. Lamanna and wife Sandra of Dolgeville, and Carmen "Charlie" Lamanna of East Herkimer; a loving daughter: Cherie Bisson and husband Peter of Brewerton; her cherished grandchildren: Theresa Maybaum and husband David of Florida, Alicia Bartsch and husband Ron of Buffalo, Angela Lamanna and fianc? Joseph Benkovich, Maria Perusich and husband Jason of N. Carolina, Francesca Ross and husband Scott of Harriman, Lonnie Lamanna and Marisa Lamanna of Herkimer, Peter Bisson, Gina Vivenzio and husband John of Connecticut, and Philip Bisson and wife Annie of Syracuse; five adored great grandchildren: Darien Bisson, Sydney Maybaum, Sophia and Gianni Vivenzio and John Francis Perusich; many nieces and nephews including Ray Nunno, Robert and Carmen Lamanna, Tony Lamanna, James Lamanna, Charles Scivaletto, Sandra Kicinski and husband Jack, Pat Lamanna and Frances Salicco all who were very special to Frances. She also leaves many cousins including: Lena, Laura and Richard Lamanna and Theresa Moretti and wonderful friends, especially mentioning Jane Yaworski and Marge Restante. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Bridget Nunno, Angelina Ragliano, Lucy Scivaletto, Ralph Nunno, and Sophie Nunno. Frances was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter in law: Giovanna Lamanna. The Lamanna family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Enea Family Funeral Home of Little Falls, from 2-4 & 6-9. Mrs. Lamanna's funeral will commence Friday, July 11, 2008 at 10:15 am from the chapel of the funeral home where a prayer service will be held thence to Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Members of the Holy Family Parish Rosary Society will form an honor guard at the funeral service. The funeral cortege will proceed to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. In Mrs. Lamanna's honor, kindly consider a contribution to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, Holy Family Parish Memorial Fund or to the Herkimer County Humane Society; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the dedicated caregivers of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for attending to Frances in a compassionate and respectful manner.
