Obituary of Dean LaValley

Herkimer: Dean F. LaValley, Jr. passed away on Dec. 15, 2008 at the Folts Homes in Herkimer. He was born in Herkimer on Nov. 21, 1926 to Dean and Melva (Dygert) LaValley. On April 7, 1952 he married Catherine M. Adolfo who passed away Nov. 23, 2003. Dean was a longtime resident of East Herkimer. He was employed by the Library Bureau as a laborer for 40 years. During WWII he served in the US Army. He is survived by his loving family, daughters Donna Murphy and husband Robert of Fairfield, Kathleen Berner and husband Jack of Middleville, and Cynthia Gardinier and husband Kenneth of Little Falls. He is also survived by his brother Bernard LaValley and wife Shirley of East Herkimer and sisters Betty Senft of Little Falls and Dorothy Bodenstein of Radford, VA.; grandchildren Jessica and Mark Armstrong, Deana Murphy and Jason Clark, Meghan, Bridget, Denise and Erin Murphy, Jacqueline and Ron Conroy, Amy and Justin MacCreery, Thomas and Alaina Gardinier; greatgrandchildren Catherine and Vincent and Benjamin Armstrong, Ian and Lily Conroy and Edie Mendez and Eleanore Crossett. He is also survived by his sister in law Frances Baggetta of Herkimer, Rosemarie Brown of Herkimer, Michalene Adolfo of Baltimore, MD and friends Marion and Leon Becker of Herkimer and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N.Washington St, Herkimer on Wed., Dec. 17, 2008 from 5-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM with the Rev. Joseph Famulare of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Middleville, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the town of Herkimer. Memorial donations may be made in Dean’s name to the Alzheimers Association, Folts Home or the East Herkimer Fire Department.
