Obituary of Leslie LeFave

Mr. Leslie N. LeFave 82 of 4020 State Route 28, Town of Herkimer, died Tuesday February 12, 2008 in the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica. He was born in Redford, Michigan on April 7th, 1925 the son of Treffley and Gertrude (Lowery) LeFave and moved to the Kuyahoora Valley area with his family. This is where he began to work on area farms and logged with his family. In later years he was employed by large construction companies, working on projects throughout New York State. He began dairy farming in Roxbury, New York and in 1979 he and his wife moved to the Herkimer area. His marriage to the former Shirley McCarthy took place on November 18, 1945 in Dolgeville. Les was an Belgian draft horse enthusiast, not only purchasing them and raising them, but he also attended many horse ?Pulls? throughout New York State. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 62 years, his Children, Norman L. and his wife Marsha LeFave of Mt. Morris, Patrick and his wife Laurie LeFave of St. Helens, Oregon, Mark and his wife Donna LeFave of Long Island, Mitchell LeFave and his companion Pamela of Canandaigua, New York, His Daughter and her companion Susan and Kevin Merriot of St. Louis, Missouri, A Brother Treffley and his wife Sylvia LeFave of Chadwicks, His sisters Edith and her husband Lloyd Dineen of Dolgeville and Margaret DeCarr of Utica A Special Grandson Damian LeFave of Utica, additional grandchildren Heather Blakesly, Linda Gleason, Valerie Crandall, Michelle Wright, Scott LeFave, Jamen, Jesse, Joel, Christopher, Katlix, Mckensie, Cara Edgerton, Mitchell Jr., Nathan, Courtney, Katlyn, Rachel, Mary Kate, Leslie Ann, Julia and Kevin Jr., also 21 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great Great Grandchildren, a Sister in law Pauline LeFave of Fairfield, his Brother in laws Donald McCarthy of Piseco, Alfred and his wife Jacqueline McCarthy of Dolgeville and James and his wife Denise McCarthy of Amsterdam, several Nieces and Nephews. Additionally he leaves a longtime friend Cheryl Howe who was always there to help care for him whenever the family called. He was predeceased by his brothers Leo and Arthur and his Sisters Beatrice, Elsie, Angeline and Symone. ?We will all miss Him? Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. There are no Calling hours. Burial will be in the Dolgeville Cemetery, later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in his name.
