MOHAWK-Matthew “Matt” M. Maine, age 60, of 1214 State Route 5S, Mohawk, died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at home. He was born on April 16, 1948, in Ilion, the son of Wesley and Gertrude (Brown) Maine and attended California schools. For several years, Matt worked as a machinist at Riverside Plastics in Riverside, Calif. He enjoyed working around his house and tinkering with small engines. Matt especially enjoyed spending time with his immediate family members and his extended family. Survivors include his children, Jeannie, Jacob, Hope, Patty, Augustine, Matthew Jr., and Mary; several grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Ed Gardner of Middleville, Mary Louise and Paul Thompson of Norco, Calif., Rose and Neal Klein of Hesperia, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wesley and Marie Maine, Walter and Barbara Maine, all of Ilion, his twin brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Judy Maine of Mohawk; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who lovingly called him “Uncle Fat Boy,” also several cousins and his special friend, Laverne Jones of Mohawk. He was predeceased by his parents. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Matt’s memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Pastor Jack Cogar officiating. Interment will be in Waterville Cemetery on his parents’ lot. Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Central New York Cardiology.
