Obituary of Susan Moore

ILION-Mrs. Susan Moore, 87, of 124 Otsego St., passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 12, 2008 at home with the consoling comfort of her family by her side. She was born in Luzerne, Pa., on May 3, 1921, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Belium) Bowalak and graduated from Mohawk High School. On March 15, 1946 she was joined in marriage with George F. Moore in Sharon Springs. He passed away in 1976. She was last employed with Remington Rand and was of the Russian Orthodox Faith and also a member of the Green Thumb Senior Program, Mohawk. Mrs. Moore always put the needs of her family before her own and will be sadly missed. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo and traveling. Survivors include her children: Lawrence ?Jim? Moore of Frankfort, Connie Butler and companion Tom Jacquays of Herkimer and Dawn Rogers also of Herkimer; a sister: Katherine Melnick of Ilion; six grandchildren: Julie Grogan, Jacqueline Salvagni and husband Alan, Tom Moore, Candy Currier and husband Dan, Todd Moore and Shelly Ryan; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her late grandson, Max Grogan?s wife, Kelly Grogan. Max passed away on May 8, 1999. She was also predeceased by three sisters and one brother. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. Mrs. Moore?s funeral will commence on Thursday, May 15th, 2008 at 10 am from the chapel of the funeral home with the V. Rev. James Jadick, rector of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Herkimer officiating. Procession will follow to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 305 Main Rd., Herkimer or to the American Cancer Society; envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank everyone involved with keeping Susan comfortable during her final days.
