Obituary of Hilda Parsons

ILION-Mrs. Hilda L. Parsons, 97, formerly of South Third Ave., Ilion, most recently of Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the nursing home. She was born on January 16, 1911 in West Winfield, daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Lane) Edick. Her marriage to Miles A. Parsons took place on July 4, 1932 in Deposit. He passed away on April 8, 1986. She was a homemaker for many years. Hilda was a member of the AARP and in her spare time enjoyed cooking. But most of all Hilda enjoyed caring for her beloved family. She will be remembered as a sweet and caring woman who always put the needs of others before her own. Survivors include her son: David Parsons and wife Jean of Bluff City, Tennessee, son in law: Donald Bunce of Polkton, NC; a sister: Dorothy Davies of Sauquoit; her grandchildren: Scott Bunce and wife Angel, Sandra Goforth and husband Larry, Brenda Murphy and husband Tim, and Judy McCluskey; several great grandchildren: and one great-great grandchild; a sister in law: Margaret Edick of West Winfield; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, including Marie Denison of Ilion and Bob Edick of Herkimer, many cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and her close friends: Julie Lane and Jean Laventure. She was predeceased by her daughter: Mary Lou Bunce; her brothers and sisters: Robert, Stanley, Glen and Sherman Edick and Marion Denison, Evelyn Edick and Louise Edick. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion on Monday, February 4, 2008 from 12-1 p.m. and invited to attend her funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon in the funeral home with the Rev. Debra Wollaber, officiating. Spring interment will be held in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff affiliated with both the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home's third floor and Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for the tender love and care. Memorial offerings may be made to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home; envelopes will be available at the funeral parlor.
